Sustainability
- Recycled materials
From the start one of our company goals has been to create beautiful pieces of jewellery in a sustainable manner that do not come to the expense of the planet.
Since mining new silver causes a lot of damage on the environment, our first initiative was to only use recycled silver from scrap metal that is Responsible Jewellery Council certified. This certification assures us that the refinement process and supply chain is closely monitored to meet strict social, ethical and environmental standards.
The materials are responsibly sourced from suppliers who are committed to sustainable environmental practices and use only recycled silver from scrap metal purchased from other jewellers and refineries. Furthermore, we are proud to say that we have a great relationship with our artisans in Jaipur who share the same values as us when it comes to setting fair trade practices and implementing sustainable solutions.
Our intention at Emily Rus Jewellery is to create outstanding quality pieces that are made to last – each piece requires a thick layer of 18k gold applied to sterling silver creating a finish that is way thicker than average gold plating and more durable as well. On the other hand, we produce our collections in very limited quantities as an initiative to reduce waste.
- Our packaging
In terms of product presentation, this also reflects our sustainability values as we ensured that all of our packaging is made from recycled materials and is fully recyclable.
The presentation jewellery boxes are made from durable cardboard covered with paper. Both materials are FSC-certified which is the most sustainable option and is fully traceable. We also use organic cotton for pouches while postal boxes are made of FSC-certified corrugated cardboard. We believe that it is important to do our best in order to reduce the environmental impact by carefully selecting only sustainable materials for our packaging.
FSC®certified products / FSC Mix 70%
The FSC® mark guarantees that all materials come from an FSC® forest, where no more wood is cut down than the forest can reproduce. This means better protection of the animal- and plant life, and all foresters have proper training, safety equipment and a decent wage.
